Bio

“For years I’ve lived during the nights, looking for celebrities in London. Today I chase another kind of celebrities. The Golem is a recurring character in Judaism and not only there- in many movies and paintings as well.” – Toby Cohen 2016
Born 1979 in London, A graduate of UWE in Bristol, Toby Cohen’s first steps in photography started as a paparazzi photographer. At the age of 21 his photos where already featured on the covers of the “Daily Express”, the popular celebrity magazine “News of the World” & the “Daily Mail”. Among his clients were Sting, the glamorous couple David & Victoria Beckham and many others.
After feeling that world was not deep enough, Cohen started creating directed scenes and conceptual ideas. The turning point in his life was in 2007. Cohen decides to abandon the gleaming life of the celebrity world, move to Israel and devote his life to photography. Today Cohen lives on the line between Tel-Aviv – London, married and a father. In the last few years he worked on the Golem project and continues to study biblical figures, such as Moses, who constitutes the center of his next grand project – “Moses Ten” in which Cohen recreates 10 scenes from the story of Moses.
