A very unique work that shows the mastery of Rubin’s techniques, and more over, this painting is a landmark in Rubin’s transitional period, between his styles of the early 1920’s and 1930’s to his prominent style of the 1940’s, 1950’s and onward. This can be seen in the difference between the object of the painting, the Pink House, painted with very soft brush strokes and in thin layers, which define his earlier works, and beside it, are the cypresses, painted with heavy materials and paint, giving an almost 3D feel, which is similar to his famous olive orchards and the landscapes of Jerusalem which are prominent in his later works.
