Jack Jano – Heavenly Jerusalem, Earthly Jerusalem

14.05.2026 - 24.07.2026

The Engel Gallery cordially invites you to Jack Jano’s new exhibition Heavenly Jerusalem, Earthly Jerusalem – an exhibition of landscapes through the intersection of sculpture and painting.

The exhibition brings together sculptures of houses with paintings of landscapes and cityscapes, creating a dialogue between the material and the spiritual dimensions. Jano’s house sculptures present structures imbued with memory, moving between architecture and archetypal images of home, belonging, and identity. Above them, landscape paintings function as a shifting field of light, movement, and reflection – a city oscillating between visibility and dissolution.

Through this body of work, Jano offers a renewed introspection on the tension between “Earthly Jerusalem” – the tangible, everyday landscape – and “Heavenly Jerusalem” – a spiritual, imagined concept charged with tradition. The exhibition invites the viewer to move between these two poles and to examine the relationship between them through a visual and emotional experience.
Jano’s works engage with questions of place, memory, and identity, proposing an artistic language in which matter and light, mass and dissolution, converge into a single, complex experience. The result is an exhibition that is both intimate and powerful, offering a new perspective on one of the most charged and important cities in the world.
